Problem
In the optics industry, accuracy is paramount, especially when the part is intended for space applications where weight and precision are critical. Thin- walled parts pose a significant challenge due to the high level of accuracy required, and limited production parts mean there’s little room to learn from previous runs.
Solution
Leveraging our experience, multi-axis machinery, and specialized tooling, we designed a process to efficiently remove material while maintaining the accuracy required for the lens housing. Additionally, our in-house MIL-certified anodizing process allowed us to maintain full control over the product, eliminating the need for costly expedited fees from external sources.
Result
By designing a precise and efficient manufacturing process and utilizing in-house anodizing, we delivered a high-accuracy, lightweight part on time, meeting the critical requirements of the space environment without additional costs.
